A PROSPECTIVE OBSERVATIONAL STUDY ON PREVALENCE AND TREATMENT OF URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS IN A TERTIARY CARE TEACHING HOSPITAL IN TELANGANA STATE

Objective: To study the Prevalence of urinary tract infections and related risk factors to Management infections. Methods: This was a prospective observational conducted in General Medicine Department, Osmania Hospital (OGH), tertiary care teaching hospital Telangana State, where patients presenting or highly suspicious having UTIs were included study. Pregnant women, Children, Patients who are not willing participate excluded from Data collected predesigned collection forms. Results: Over period 6 Mo total 75 UTI cases observed Department OGH, which 33 Males, 42 Females. High prevalence Females middle age group i.e. 31-45 y, whereas senior adult i.e.,>60 y. The 18-30 y have shown dominance Uncomplicated UTIs(19%) Primary (17%) group>60 Complicated (25%) Recurrent UTIs(23%). most common causative organism found be E. coli (69.3%). It confirmed that factor Diabetes Mellitus, followed by Hypertension Chronic Kidney Disease. antibiotic prescribed for Piperacillin+Tazobactum fungal UTIs, an antifungal drug i.e., Fluconazole prescribed. Conclusion: major cause among is discovered females. Hospitalisation, married individuals, mellitus, genitourinary abnormalities, congestive cardiac failure, hypertension, prostatitis female gender important UTIs. Appropriate measures may help reduce due these associated factors.
